Global Food Security

This collection aims to support the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger. The latter aims to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition; and promote sustainable agriculture. Thus, submissions to this collection should focus on addressing global policies linked to the topics mentioned above, including but not limited to:
  • The assessment of food security.
  • Proposed methods of tackling these problems in the light of the three decades (United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition 2016-2025, UN Decade of Action on Family Farming 2019-2028, and UN Decade of Action, 2020-2030).
  • Evaluation of current food production and distribution.

Study Objective
To present a Sustainability Compass that helps policymakers navigate the complexities of sustainable food systems, providing a comprehensive framework for sustainability assessments and facilitating multi-actor policy negotiations.

Short Abstract
This study introduces the Sustainability Compass, a tool designed to provide policymakers with insights into the sustainability of food systems. It is intended to guide decision-making by evaluating the trade-offs and synergies between various sustainability goals and providing an evidence-based approach to food system transformations. The framework aims to facilitate inclusive policy discussions and reflect diverse perspectives on sustainability.
