Study Objective
To assess the available evidence on the association between diet quality and bone health markers in children and adolescents.
Short Abstract
This systematic review evaluates the relationship between diet quality and bone health in children and adolescents. The review included 12 observational studies with 7,130 participants aged 3 to 17.9 years. The findings suggest that dietary patterns, particularly those rich in fruits, vegetables, and dairy, are associated with better bone health. However, no significant link was found when evaluating diet quality through dietary indexes. The review emphasizes the need for public health policies encouraging a healthy diet for bone health and further research.
