Study Objective
To evaluate the characteristics, functions, and effectiveness of AI chatbots designed to promote physical activity, healthy eating, weight management behaviors, and other related health outcomes.
Short Abstract
This review assessed AI chatbot interventions across multiple studies to understand their effectiveness in encouraging physical activity, healthy eating, and weight management. A total of 9 studies were included, with a focus on chatbot characteristics such as gender, name, relational capacity, and persuasive capacity. Results suggest chatbots can increase physical activity but provide limited evidence on their effectiveness for diet and weight management.

Systematic review of randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies
Population
Adults and children engaging with AI chatbots for physical activity, diet, and/or weight management
