Effect of Mobile-Assisted Education on Health Promoting Lifestyle and Blood Sugar of Women with Gestational Diabetes: A Randomised Controlled Trial.

Study Objective
To evaluate the effect of mobile-assisted education on the health-promoting lifestyle and blood sugar control of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Short Abstract
This randomized controlled trial assessed the impact of a mobile-assisted educational program on women with GDM. The intervention group showed significant improvement in health-promoting behaviors and better blood sugar control compared to the control group. The study suggests that mobile education could be an effective tool to enhance lifestyle and health outcomes in women with GDM.

Study Design
Randomised controlled trial with an intervention group receiving education through a mobile app and a control group receiving standard care.

Population
76 women aged 18-35 diagnosed with gestational diabetes, in their 24-28th week of pregnancy, from Baghmalek, Khuzestan, Iran.

Sample Size
76 women (38 in the intervention group, 38 in the control group).

Inclusion Criteria
Women aged 18-35 years, diagnosed with gestational diabetes, with a fasting blood sugar level above 92 mg/dL, basic literacy, ownership of a smartphone, and scores indicating poor or moderate lifestyle.

Exclusion Criteria
Women requiring medication for diabetes, those with pre-eclampsia or hypertension, or those with severe complications.

Intervention/Exposure
A mobile application designed for education on gestational diabetes, nutrition, physical activity, and health management over a 4-week period.

Outcome Measures
Primary: Health-promoting lifestyle score improvement (HPLP-II).
Secondary: Fasting blood sugar levels, blood sugar 2 hours after a meal.
