Study Objective
To determine factors associated with alcohol consumption and assess its relationship with fruit and vegetable (FnV) intake among older adults in Ghana.
Short Abstract
This study examined alcohol consumption and its association with inadequate FnV intake among Ghanaians aged 50 years and older. The findings show that 22.8% of participants reported lifetime alcohol consumption, which was significantly associated with lower FnV intake. Alcohol consumers were found to have a 35% higher likelihood of inadequate FnV consumption compared to non-drinkers. These results underline the importance of considering alcohol consumption in nutrition interventions for older adults.
