Study Objective
To summarize the impact of eSports and online video gaming on physical activity, diet, sleep, and other lifestyle behaviours in youth.
Short Abstract
This systematic review examines 36 studies exploring the impact of eSports and online video gaming on lifestyle behaviours such as physical activity, BMI, diet, and sleep in youth. The findings indicate negative associations between high gaming engagement and lifestyle outcomes, including decreased physical activity, higher BMI, poorer sleep quality, and unhealthy dietary habits. The review highlights the need for promoting healthy lifestyle behaviours within the eSports community to mitigate the negative health effects associated with gaming.
